The Bet9ja Foundation has completed 206 humanitarian projects across 33 states and the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja, in just about two years since its inception. Executive Director Ada Cuomo disclosed this during a media tour of the Foundation’s new office in Lagos, highlighting the organisation’s commitment to positively impacting citizens’ lives nationwide.

“We’ve visited 33 states and impacted about 180 communities,” Cuomo said. “Over 180 of our projects fall under five pillars: education, healthcare, community infrastructure, and community development.”

The Foundation has implemented various initiatives, including installing solar-powered boreholes in northern communities to provide water for residents. “The Foundation also supported micro, small, and medium businesses with credit, while educational grants were given to hundreds of students across the country,” Cuomo stated

According to Cuomo, the Foundation has reached over 65,000 Nigerians, with the South-West region benefiting from 110 projects, followed by the South-South with 28 and the South-East with 26. “We’ve partnered with different organisations to deliver solar power projects, distribute solar panels, and dig water boreholes, especially in the North,” she added.

The Foundation has also prioritised youth development, organising training on business planning, CV writing, and employability skills. “We’ve hosted graduate employability and entrepreneurship summits and run youth executive programs to help bright entrepreneurs scale their businesses,” Cuomo revealed.

Furthermore, the foundation awarded scholarships to 100 undergraduates in public universities. “We don’t stop at providing support,” Cuomo said. “We follow up and monitor beneficiaries for six to seven months to ensure they are on track and doing what they set out to do.
