Morelock expressed her excitement about finally achieving her lifelong dream, saying, “It’s been 63 years since I started. It’s very, very exciting.” She was accompanied by her two daughters and a close friend, who joined her for a campus tour and photos.

Growing up as the daughter of educators, Morelock was inspired to pursue a career in teaching. She earned her bachelor’s degree in science and math and went on to teach in various schools, eventually earning her master’s degree. After her husband’s passing in 2019, Morelock decided to complete her doctorate, which she had started decades earlier.

Morelock credited her family and Liberty University’s support team for helping her navigate the challenges of online learning, including adjusting to new technology and completing assignments despite being legally blind. “I have spent my entire life doing things for others, and I do not regret the way I have spent my life, but now it is time to do something for me,” she said.

With her newfound title, Morelock hopes to inspire others to pursue their goals, saying, “Whatever your dream is, don’t ever give up. Keep working towards it, and if you persist, you will make that dream come true. You have got to be persistent.” Her determination and perseverance serve as a testament to the power of lifelong learning and the importance of pursuing one’s passions
