Pep Guardiola, the manager of Manchester City, responded to criticism on Tuesday regarding his handling of Jack Grealish after Sunday’s goalless draw with Arsenal.

Guardiola was seen enthusiastically instructing Grealish on the field at full time.

However, the Spaniard has come under criticism for speaking to players on the pitch following games rather than in the locker room.

Guardiola responded to reporters when they inquired about his meeting with Grealish, saying, “I do it for the cameras, my ego.”

“I’m the famous person on the team and need the cameras to go to sleep with incredible satisfaction.

“I always try to criticise the players there [on the pitch] and let them know how bad they are. Especially when Erling [Haaland] scores three goals, the cameras have to be on me.”

City will host Aston Villa in their upcoming league game, Grealish’s former club.
