Who does the Bible say God is?

According to the Bible, God is introduced to the Israelites from the story of Abraham. God is described as the author of the universe and the creator of everything Genesis 1. According to Jesus in the Bible, He called God Abba Father (Mark 14:36), which means Source; it is a Hebrew word for Source. The Bible sees God as the Source of everything.

The Bible also describes God as one in the unseen realm (Psalm 82), creating everything in the seen realm. So, it means that for you to be God, you must be the Source of the creator of everything.

What does the Bible say Jesus is?

The Bible describes Jesus as the Word of God (John 1:1-3). It means that before Jesus came, God spoke to His people through the prophets. An example is Moses in Mount Sinai (Exodus 19) when God was talking, and the people heard thunder and lightning. Hence, God had to speak to Moses to speak to the people as the Israelites (Exodus 20) declared their willingness to obey God through Moses.

In Isaiah 11:1-9, God promised restoration for His people through the work of a Messiah, who we know as Jesus. He promised to live and abide with them. That was why He sent His son, Jesus, into the world. The 1st-century followers believed that Jesus is the Word of God, so God now speaks to people through Jesus. So Jesus became the mouthpiece of God. That is why Jesus said no one can come to the Father except through Him (John 14:6).

HOW CAN JESUS BE GOD?

It is easy to understand the 1st century Prophets and Apostles that said Jesus is God. Now, the Bible made us understand that the Source of everything sits upon the throne in Heaven. Now, the Source (which is God) came to the earth in the form of Jesus (John 1:1). The Bible said He sent His Word ahead of Him (Psalm 107:20). It does not mean that God left His throne; he does not leave His throne.

His Word has the signal, power and everything to bring things to reality, as evidenced in Genesis 1 during the account of creation. He simply spoke His Word, and it brought everything in the world into reality. According to the Bible, that Word is Jesus, who is also God (John 1: 1-3). Also, understand that the same God sits on the throne that His Word came into existence in the form of Jesus (Philippians 2:5-8).

Jesus made a statement, I and my Father are one (John 10:30); if you have seen my Father, you have seen me (John 14:7-9. He boldly explains that He is God. Jesus is God’s representative to humanity (Hebrews 1:3), the image of the invisible God (Colossians 1:15), and the one who has made God known (John 1:18). These descriptions emphasize Jesus’ role as the perfect reflection of God’s character and nature. Humanity cannot absolve the totality of what God is.

In Christian teaching, Jesus is seen as the ultimate revelation of God’s love and plan for humanity. By following His teachings and example, we can know God more intimately and understand His desires for our lives.

So, the only way that humanity can know God is through Jesus. That is why He said no one can come to the Father except through me. He said that as Christians, we have been given the right to be called sons of God (John 1:12). So, humanity is expected to listen and follow the words of God (Jesus) and will know the Supreme God the Father through that. So if you cannot believe the Word which He sent, you cannot know God who sent Him.

In conclusion, the Bible clearly teaches that Jesus is truly God, the second person of the Trinity, and the only way to salvation. We have seen from Scripture that Jesus is the Word who was with God in the beginning; he is the exact representation of God’s nature and has the power to forgive sins and grant eternal life.
