In a 64 million naira money laundering case, three former appointees of former Kaduna State Governor Malam Nasir El-Rufai are scheduled to be arraigned by the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offenses Commission (ICPC).

The defendants are Yusuf Inuwa, the former Commissioner of Finance for the State; Umar Waziri, the former Accountant General of Kaduna State; and Lawal Shakiru Olajimi Adebisi, a former Senior Special Adviser/Counsellor to El-Rufai.

The firm that is accused of receiving the misdirected monies, Solar Life Nigeria Limited, is also mentioned in the complaint.

Lawal is accused by the ICPC of conspiring with the other defendants to divert N64,800,562 in three transactions in the suit filed at the Federal High Court, Kaduna Judicial Division: N10,000,000, N47,840,000, and N7,320,562.

Lawal is regarded as the only signatory to the alleged transfer of these cash to the bank account of Solar Life Nigeria Limited.

To enter their pleas, the four defendants are expected to appear in court on Friday, January 17, 2025.
