Speaking about his background, Dr. Olagunju said, “I teach the German language in the Department of Foreign Languages at the Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife, where I’ve been a lecturer for the past 22 years. I am from Esa-Oke in Osun State.”

Dr. Olagunju is fluent in multiple languages, including Yoruba, English, French, and German. He also has a basic knowledge of Italian.

The viral video showed Dr. Olagunju’s students presenting him with gifts, a moment he described as “completely unexpected and a surprise.” He added, “I felt emotional, great, and happy. It’s good to be good.”

Reflecting on the moment, Dr. Olagunju said, “It was a mix of emotions, shock, and surprise. I kept wondering, ‘What’s going on? How did this happen?’ It was so emotional that I had to control myself to hide my tears from the cameras.”

Dr Olagunju’s teaching philosophy emphasizes creating a conducive learning environment. He believes that students are like blank sheets of paper, and it’s the lecturer’s duty to fill them with knowledge.

Dr. Olagunju encouraged students facing challenges to persevere, saying, “Giving up doesn’t solve the problem; it only makes it worse. They should keep pushing forward.”

He also appealed to the government to invest more in education, citing the need for better funding and younger lecturers.

Dr. Olagunju’s message to the students who honored him was one of gratitude and encouragement. He urged them to work hard, give back to others, and embody the values they saw in him.

In addition to his work at the university, Dr. Olagunju is the founder of the Multi-Language Place Foundation, which offers language training and certification. He hopes to equip students with the skills needed to access global opportunities.
