On Saturday, tragedy struck in the Egbeda area of Lagos when Otunba Kunle Akinyele, a former Assistant Comptroller of the Nigeria Customs Service, unexpectedly passed away while celebrating his wife’s 60th birthday.

According to reports, the late Akinyele, who was from Efon Alaaye in Ekiti State, sagged during his address at the ceremony and was taken to the hospital right away, where he was pronounced dead.
What was supposed to be a happy event for his wife, Mrs. Catherine Akinyele, was marred by the regrettable incident. Just prior to the collapse, Mr. Akinyele had shown off a brand-new Toyota Highlander that he had purchased for her as a birthday present.
After the incident, several guests who had already made themselves at home at the reception location and were being serenaded by a live band left in shock and bewilderment, according to sources who spoke to ZINGTIE.
Mr. Akinyele was liked by his family and the neighborhood and was described as a generous and compassionate man. He was a hotelier in Lagos in addition to his work with the Nigeria Customs Service.
He is survived by his wife, children, and elderly parents.
His friends and family are grieved by his untimely death.
