Hakeem Baba-Ahmed, the former Special Adviser on Political Affairs to President Bola Tinubu in the Office of Vice President Kashim Shettima, has spoken candidly about Tinubu’s relationship with Shettima.
Rumor has it that Tinubu may fire Shettima before the general elections in 2027, rather than merely ignoring him.
The ruling All Progressives Congress, APC, has occasionally been forced to refute the allegations, claiming they are unfounded.
As you may remember, Baba-Ahmed, a former spokesperson for the Northern Elders Forum, NEF, resigned from his position as President Bola Tinubu’s political adviser.
Some groups accused him of resigning after realizing that Tinubu no longer cared about the vice president.
When the former NEF commander appeared on Channels Television’s Politics Today on Thursday, he was asked to explain the relationship between the top and bottom people.
He said, “I didn’t see that. I find it odd. Between the two of them I think those rumours are cooked to be honest.
“I never really interacted with the President. I never sat down with Tinubu to ask him how he felt about Shettima.
“But I spoke with Shettima. I can tell you only from Shettima’s perspective. I don’t think Shettima feels he’s been sidelined.
“I don’t think he feels Tinubu has any grievance against him. I saw a President and a Vice president who work well. The synergy was there.”
