The African Democratic Congress (ADC) Abia State Chapter has backed the party’s former National Working Committee in the ongoing coalition negotiations and in welcoming David Mark as the party’s interim national chairman.
During an expanded coalition meeting attended by members of the ADC and the college of coalition members from other political parties on Saturday in Umuahia, the party made this statement.
Iyke Nwoke was acknowledged as the interim chairman of Abia State by the coalition ADC’s interim National Working Committee, according to a statement issued by the Abia ADC following the meeting.
Bishop Sunday Onuoha, a former candidate for the ADC governorship, Iyke Nwoke, and other signatories signed the communiqué, which acknowledged Bishop Sunday Onuoha’s efforts to bring the party together and nominated Okey Ezeala as the ADC’s temporary state secretary in Abia.
However, they voiced disappointment that certain politicians continue to claim to be part of the ADC coalition while remaining in their previous political parties.
According to him, “The only valid means of joining the coalition ADC is by registering at the ward level and identifying with the interim leadership, not (by) grandstanding or social media speculation.”
While claiming that his party is not factionalized in Abia, Iyke Nwoke, the interim chairman of the ADC in Abia, told reporters during the meeting that a number of Abia lawmakers are currently lining up to join the ADC Coalition.
He added that the ADC will win all of the elective seats in Abia by 2027 as a result of the current coalition negotiations in the country.
