Rotimi Amaechi, a former minister of transportation, has promised not to support any presidential candidate in the general elections of 2027.
There have been rumors that the former governor might appoint former vice president Atiku Abubakar, who is probably going to become the leader of the African Democratic Congress (ADC).
However, Amaechi clarified that he is too presidential to serve as anyone’s vice at a speech in Abuja.
“I will not be vice president to anybody. There are too many reasons why I won’t be vice president to anybody.
“The first reason is that I’m too presidential to be vice”, he said.
Amaechi, who is also vying for the ADC presidential ticket, claims that the issue with the vice presidential position is structural rather than ceremonial.
According to the former governor of Rivers State, the vice president’s position in Nigeria is intended to be subservient, frequently helpless, and totally dependent on the president’s disposition.
“We will quarrel, instead of that, I would rather be a minister than be a vice president”, Amaechi said.
