At least three countries have been eliminated from the ongoing 2025 Africa Cup of Nations, or AFCON, in Morocco after failing to score a single point in the group round thus far.

The three countries are Botswana, Equatorial Guinea, and Gabon.

Despite having one final game in the group stage fixtures this week, the aforementioned countries will pack their bags and leave Morocco regardless of the outcome of their remaining group stage matches.

Botswana is currently in last place in Group D with zero points after losing their first two matches.

They were defeated 3-0 by Senegal before falling 1-0 to the Benin Republic.

The Zebras still have a last group match against DR Congo on Tuesday, but other results in their group have already ensured their elimination from the competition.

Similarly, Equatorial Guinea suffered two defeats in Group E. They fell 2-1 against Burkina Faso in their first game before falling 1-0 to Sudan, leaving them with no points.

Gabon also exited Group F early after losing two consecutive games. They lost 1-0 to Cameroon in their first game, then 3-2 to Mozambique in their second.

Gabon ranks last in the group and is mathematically eliminated.

They will play for pride in their final group match against Ivory Coast on Wednesday.
