In Uso, Owo LGA of Ondo State, gunmen have kidnapped six worshippers from the Celestial Church of Christ (CCC).
While a service was being held in the church, the incident occurred early on Wednesday.
DSP Abayomi Jimoh, the spokesperson for the Ondo State Police Command, confirmed this in a statement on Wednesday, noting that the incident took place around 12:50 am on February 25 in the early hours of the morning.
Jimoh clarified that the victims were allegedly transported to an undisclosed location by the assailants.
“Upon receiving the report, the operatives of the Command, in collaboration with the Nigerian Army and local vigilante groups, immediately mobilised to the scene and commenced coordinated rescue operations.
“As a result of sustained joint efforts, one of the kidnapped victims has been successfully rescued,” the statement said.
This kidnapping occurred only four days after armed men took a couple hostage at Ilu-Abo, located in Akure North LGA of Ondo State.
Gunmen recently stormed the palace of Oba Kehinde Falodun, the Alagamo of Agamo in Ondo State’s Akure North Local Government Area, and shot him dead.
