Former Manchester United striker Wayne Rooney has stated that Bukayo Saka’s return to fitness is a significant boost to Arsenal FC’s Premier League title ambitions.

Saka featured for the first time in nearly a month, coming off the bench during the 1-0 victory over Newcastle United on Saturday.

Eberechi Eze scored the decisive goal in the encounter, as Mikel Arteta’s side moved three points clear of Manchester City.

Despite scoring only twice since December and dealing with multiple injury setbacks this season, Rooney believes Saka’s return carries great importance.

He said on his BBC podcast, “Bukayo Saka has been really good for Arsenal in the past few years.

“Maybe this season he hasn’t reached his best, but he’s such a key player.

“So getting him back now is really big. He’s one of the team’s leaders, so having him back is a huge boost.”
