On Sunday, July 13, 2025, the Nigerian Tribune reported that Yulia Dyakova-Adekunle, a Russian-born woman, had found a new home in Nigeria by love, commitment, and helping others.

She continues to create a life that combines her Nigerian and Russian heritage as the vice-president of the Nigerwives Association in Ibadan.

She met and fell in love with Oluwashola Israel Adekunle, a Nigerian guy who would eventually become her husband, marking the beginning of this new chapter in her life.

It was difficult to relocate from Russia to Nigeria. Yulia had to become used to a new surroundings, language, cuisine, and lifestyle. But she was able to adapt and settle down with time and her husband’s help.

With her membership in the Nigerwives Association, she actively supports women and families in Ibadan, where she currently resides and has assimilated.

There were additional challenges associated with being in an interracial marriage. She initially had to deal with cultural barriers and miscommunications. However, as time went on, these difficulties become teaching moments that strengthened her bond.

In addition to sharing aspects of her Russian heritage with others around her, Yulia now loves Nigerian culture. She has been able to create a life full of love, respect, and harmony because to this balance.

In addition to her family life, Yulia is passionate about giving back. She is particularly committed to using education to benefit the blind and visually handicapped.

According to her, individuals with disabilities have to have access to education and chances to hone their skills. Numerous lives have been impacted by her work in this field, which is still expanding as she collaborates with others to make a significant difference.

She participates in a number of community initiatives as the vice-president of the Nigerwives Association in Ibadan. Helping foreign women married to Nigerians adapt, feel accepted, and make valuable contributions to society is one of their main goals. Additionally, the group participates in charitable endeavors, emphasizing health and education.

Because of her leadership position, Yulia has been able to inspire other women by sharing her own story and connecting with people who are going through similar struggles.

She said: I’m originally from Russia, born and bred! What brought me to Nigeria? Well, a charming Nigerian man named Oluwashola Israel Adekunle stole my heart and brought me across the world. Guess love can travel really far!
