In Anambra state, Governor Chukwuma Soludo has come under fire from the All Progressives Congress (APC) for his recent visit to President Bola Tinubu.
In a statement, Okechukwu Modebe, the spokesperson for the Nicholas Ukachukwu/Uche Ekwunife campaign organization, called the meeting the final kick of a dying horse and a last-ditch effort to bring Soludo back into the political spotlight before the governorship election on November 8, 2025.
According to Modebe, Soludo’s four years of poor governance, a lack of connection with the people, and political miscalculations could not be undone by the most recent attempt to pose for the cameras with Mr. President.
“Parading such meetings as endorsements insults the intelligence of Anambra voters,” Modebe said.
In a meeting with Tinubu on August 12, the governor, who was elected on the ticket of the All Progressives Grand Alliance, or APGA, promised to back the president’s campaign for reelection in 2027.
The APC’s state branch said that the governor was misrepresenting the visit as an endorsement, pointing out that the party is still focused on the governorship election and the August 16 rerun for the Anambra South senatorial seat.
