A chieftain of the African Democratic Congress, Dele Momodu, has lamented that Nigerian politicians now treat zoning as the only credential needed to win presidential elections in the country.

Momodu made the remark on Tuesday during a live appearance on ‘Prime Time’, a programme on Arise Television.

The publisher of Ovation Magazine stated that the ruling All Progressives Congress and President Bola Ahmed Tinubu understand that without pushing the zoning narrative, their path to victory may be uncertain.

According to him, the idea of zoning distracts Nigerians from the real issues affecting the country.

“Politicians now treat zoning as the only credential needed to win presidential elections.

“It’s a distraction, and I can say it without any fear of contradiction, that it is not what we need at this time.

“Winning an election is about strategy. However, those who want zoning have the right to their choices,” he said.
