The Imo State Chapter of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) has conveyed its profound grief and worry regarding the unfortunate murders of Mrs. Esther Chimezie Ijeoma, its woman leader in Amosu Umulolo Ward, and Mr. Ambrose Ndukwe, both of whom are natives of Okigwe Local Government Area.
On Friday, January 30, 2026, they were shot and killed.
The party stated that the tragic event was yet another painful reminder of the ongoing security challenges facing Imo State.
The party’s state Publicity Secretary, Chief Macdonald Amadi, issued a statement on Thursday that included this information. The statement was provided to journalists in Owerri.
He noted that “the loss of innocent lives, regardless of political affiliation or background, strikes at the very heart of our shared humanity and calls for sober reflection by all stakeholders.”
The party indicated that the ADC holds the view that safeguarding lives and property is the primary duty of any government, further stating that “when citizens continue to fall victim to violent attacks, it raises serious concerns about the effectiveness, responsiveness, and prioritisation of public safety measures.”
ADC required proactive leadership, well-defined strategies, and steadfast dedication.
“In the interest of justice, peace, and public confidence, the ADC respectfully calls for the following actions: comprehensive, transparent investigation into the killings, with findings communicated to the public within a reasonable timeframe,” it demanded.
The party called for a rapid identification and prosecution of the offenders, adhering to legal principles, in order to ensure justice and deter future acts of violence.
