The African Democratic Congress (ADC) has stated that it is premature to determine who will be its presidential candidate for the 2027 elections.
Bolaji Abdullahi, the party’s interim National Publicity Secretary, emphasized that the ADC is currently concentrating on strengthening the party’s foundation.
Speaking in Abuja on Saturday, Abdullahi clarified that the party has not endorsed any presidential hopeful.
He said: “We don’t have any favourite aspirants or candidates. We are not having any conversation at the moment.
“Nobody has ever had any conversation about who will be the party’s flag bearer.
“We believe that it is too early in the day. Our focus now is to build a political party that is strong enough to deliver on the mission that we have set for ourselves.”
At present, three individuals are rumored to be interested in the ADC’s presidential nomination: former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, former Labour Party candidate Peter Obi, and former Minister of Transportation Rotimi Amaechi.
However, none of these leading coalition members have publicly announced their candidacy.
