Following accusations that he staged his mother’s death and posted a phony obituary in order to defraud his classmates of their money, a Nigerian student has come under scrutiny.

The person, identified as Adesanya Oluwatumilara, allegedly planned the scam to obtain money under false pretenses, according to the accusations, which first appeared on social media site X (previously known as Twitter).

Viral reports claim that after Oluwatumilara told his classmates and peers that his mother had passed away, many of them sent him money. Additionally, it is claimed that he misappropriated the money for personal enjoyment, including extravagant outings.

One user posted his picture with the accusations and wrote: “Adesanya Oluwatumilara, you are a disgrace for faking your mother’s death just to scam your coursemates of millions. You’ve also used fake scholarship claims to trick people. Don’t trust him—he lies without shame!”

A video of the accused partying in a nightclub, flinging cash and dancing merrily, was circulated, adding to the controversy and inciting public indignation.
