Jesus Owono, the goalkeeper for Equatorial Guinea, stated that the team’s outstanding performance against Nigeria was primarily due to teamwork.

In their Group B match on Sunday afternoon at the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations, the Nzalang Nacional and Super Eagles drew 1-1.

In the 36th minute, Ivan Salvador gave Equatorial Guinea the lead.

Victor Osimhen, though, equalised right away for Nigeria.

After the game, Owono was praised for his teammates and was named Man of the Match.

“The unity in our team made the difference for us against Nigeria,” he told a press conference after the game.

“Our strength was the teamwork we showed on the pitch. We were not scared and took the game to them.”

The team captained by Juan Micha will now play Guinea-Bissau on Thursday.
