AFCON 2025 Draw: Super Eagles placed in Pot 1

Ahead of the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations draw, the Super Eagles have been placed into Pot 1.

On its official website, the Confederation of African Football (CAF) announced the draw procedure on Wednesday.

The top-ranked countries as per the most recent FIFA Rankings, which were announced on June 20, 2024, would reportedly occupy Pot 1.

As of right now, the Super Eagles are the continent’s fifth-best squad.

The following countries are also in Pot 1: Egypt, Ghana, Mali, South Africa, Cameroon, Democratic Republic of the Congo, Senegal, Algeria, Tunisia, Cote d’Ivoire, Egypt.

After the qualifiers are over, there will be twelve groups of four teams (Group A through Group L) in the final draw, and the winners and runners-up in each of the eleven groups that do not involve tournament hosts Morocco, will gain qualification to the competition.

On Thursday, the draw will take place in Johannesburg, South Africa.

The dates of the AFCON 2025 finals are set for December 21, 2025, and January 18, 2026.
