Tanzania head coach Manuel Gomandi has commended his players for their determined performance against Nigeria’s Super Eagles.
The Taifa Stars fell 2-1 to Eric Chelle’s team in Fès on Tuesday night.
Gomandi’s squad defended strongly throughout the match and created a few challenges for the Super Eagles’ backline.
Tanzania went behind when Semi Ajayi headed in Alex Iwobi’s cross in the 36th minute.
Kokola M’mombwa pulled one back for Tanzania in the 50th minute, but Ademola Lookman restored Nigeria’s lead with a brilliant strike just two minutes later.
Gomandi praised his players for their courage and commitment during the game.
“The performance of my players was great even though we committed the mistake from the corner where we conceded the first goal,” Gomandi said during his interaction with the media after the game.”
The Taifa Stars will face regional rivals, Uganda in their next game on Saturday.
