Mozambique’s team has been offered a special bonus of 500,000 meticais, which is around 11.3 million naira, if they defeat Nigeria in the round of 16 at the Africa Cup of Nations in Morocco.

President Daniel Francisco Chapo made the invitation while congratulating the Mambas on reaching the round of 16 in the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations in Morocco.

The Mambas will face Nigeria after placing third in Group F, despite losing 2-1 to Cameroon’s Indomitable Lions in their previous group encounter.

The country’s Head of State addressed a letter to the players and coaching staff, praising their performance in the group round of the event.

The President described their feat as exceptional and deserving of honor, adding it made the entire country proud.

On behalf of the Mozambican people, he commended the players and coaches for their bravery, hard effort, and determination, which enabled the squad to achieve new heights on the continent.

According to Jornal Notícias, President Chapo has offered a 500,000 incentive for all players and coaches if they beat the Super Eagles and go to the quarterfinals of the Afcon.

He reiterated that the entire country supports the team and believes they can defeat Nigeria.

Nigeria and Mozambique will play at the Complexe Sportif de Fès on Monday, January 5.
