Nnamdi Kanu, the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB, was barred from his legal team by the Department of State Services, or DSS, on Friday.

Aloy Ejimakor, Kanu’s Lead Counsel, revealed this in a post on X.

Ejimakor revealed that DSS’s most recent move was in persistent violation of a court decision granting Kanu access to his legal counsel.

In light of the most recent action, he pledged to vigorously pursue any pending legal proceedings.

Ejimakor wrote: “Today, in a blatant & continuing disobedience of extant court order, the DSS barred the Legal Team of Mazi Nnamdi Kanu from conducting a visitation with him.

“For this reason, all suspended legal actions to enforce compliance will proceed apace and with much vigour.”

Kanu had been refused access to his lawyers by the DSS in October.

Since his re-arrest and extraordinary rendition in 2021, Kanu has been detained by the DSS.

The Abuja Federal High Court threatened to imprison DSS Director General Adeola Ajayi for contempt after this move.
