On Saturday, the Senate President Godswill Akpabio made a suggestion that the states of Rivers and Bayelsa would soon join the All Progressives Congress, APC.

At a lavish reception to formally welcome Governor Umo Eno of Akwa Ibom State into the APC, Akpabio made this revelation.

Prior to the 2027 elections, he said he hoped the APC will win the entire South-South area.

According to Akpabio: “Governor Sheriff of Delta State thank you for joining the progressive family and moving the South South in a progressive direction.

“Governor Umo Eno, after you, Rivers State will just tumble, after Rivers State, Bayelsa will join.

“We won election with Governor Otu in Edo State and we produced an amiable Monday Okpebholo, congratulations once again for your victory.”

Eno made hints about switching from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the APC in April.

The governor had attributed his decision to defect to the APC to the internal PDP issue.

At an occasion in the state capital of Uyo on June 6, the governor formally defected from the PDP to the APC.

Members of the Progressive Governors Forum as well as a few leaders of the ruling party were present at the event.
