Renowned Nigerian comedian Ali Baba has been removed from his property located in Victoria Island, Lagos state.
He, along with his company, XQZMOI TV, faced eviction after a writ of possession was issued by the Federal High Court on August 15, 2025.
The federal government sold the property to Ali Baba in 2021 for N220 million through the Assets Management Corporation of Nigeria (AMCON).
AMCON stated that the sale was to recover debts reportedly owed by Harold Expansion Industries Nigeria Limited.
However, Justice Ambrose Lewis-Allagoa dismissed AMCON’s claim in a ruling on July 31, 2025, stating that the corporation did not present sufficient evidence of the alleged debt.
The court directed that the property be returned to its rightful owner and imposed a N500 million fine on AMCON for damages.
The comedian’s involvement in the case stemmed from the timing of his purchase of the property.
Ali Baba, who had been a tenant of the original owner prior to their eviction by AMCON, is said to have bought the property while the legal matter was still ongoing, despite an existing preservation order.
