Olatunbosun Oyintiloye, a leader of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Osun State, has urged the nation’s political, religious, and community leaders to support President Bola Tinubu in his efforts to put an end to terrorism.

Speaking to reporters in Osogbo on Sunday, former lawmaker Oyintiloye said this.

He believes that Nigerians, regardless of their political or religious beliefs, should unite during this crucial time to support the President and work together to address the nation’s ongoing security issues.

According to Oyintiloye, every Nigerian should be concerned about President Donald Trump of the United States of America’s promise to send military troops to Nigeria because to purported Christian deaths.

The former congressman stated that Nigerians must band together to protect their sovereignty even if the president and security services are working hard to put a stop to violent crimes in the nation.

Additionally, Oyintiloye asserted that there was never a war in Nigeria against any specific religion and that the current security crisis did not begin with the Tinubu administration but rather developed over a long period of time from terrorism to banditry.

“We must come together and rally behind the President at this period. Our religious or political affiliations are irrelevant at this period; what we need is oneness and unity to protect the sovereignty of our dear country,” he said.

He stated that no religion could be said to be the target of the homicidal deeds of the perpetrators of these horrible atrocities, even though he insisted that all religions in the nation—Muslims, Christians, and others—have suffered as a result of terrorism.

He acknowledged the US’s worries over the nation’s security, saying, “sharing of intelligence information and US military equipment support to fight insecurity in the country would go a long way in helping Nigeria to tackle and defeat the menace of insecurity.”

However, the APC leader warned Nigerians, particularly opposition members, to be careful what they say during this time because everyone will be impacted.

Additionally, Oyintiloye asked the recently appointed military commanders to uphold the President’s confidence in them, put up great effort to combat terrorism in the nation, and do everything in their ability to support their appointment during this crucial time.

“This is not a time to play opposition politics. We must all come to the realisation that all our hopes, aspirations, and dreams to get public offices rest squarely on the continued existence of Nigeria.

“Our current set of leaders will be there for a period of time and move on. But Nigerians must not walk into a trap that will make the country cease to exist. With the cooperation of all stakeholders, we have the capacity to end terrorism.

“Getting foreign support in terms of equipment will be good but not deployment of soldiers. It may complicate the situation and lead to a greater problem. The political, religious, and community leaders must be united in their resolve to protect the country.

“What Tinubu needs at this time is the support of all Nigerians,” Oyintiloye said.
