Former Minister of Transportation, Rotimi Amaechi, has urged the African Democratic Congress (ADC) to select a viable candidate, emphasizing that President Bola Tinubu will not hand power to the opposition.
Amaechi made the statement on Tuesday during the national convention of the ADC, which took place in Abuja, the nation’s capital.
He criticized the president over the escalating insecurity in Nigeria, which has led to numerous deaths, kidnappings, and widespread displacement.
The former minister then called on ADC leaders to unite and challenge the current administration.
“ADC must decide on a viable candidate. President Tinubu will not give us power. Why would government officials stop you from gathering when the constitution guarantees you that right?” Amaechi questioned.
“How can a man who claims to be a democrat prevent democracy? Tell me what to say to President Tinubu.”
“If you accuse me of something I didn’t do, I will go to any lengths to defend myself, but these people don’t care at all. What matters to them is money. They don’t even deny that they are thieves and land grabbers,” Amaechi added.
