Yunusa Adamu Dangwani, a prominent Kano politician and former confidant of Senator Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, has formally defected to the All Progressives Congress (APC), stating his willingness to support the party’s candidacy in the general elections of 2027.
During a defection event in Kano, when scores of former PDP members joined the APC, Dangwani made the news. Several party stakeholders attended the event, which was organized by Abdullahi Abbas, the chairman of the Kano State APC.
Speaking during the function, Dangwani commended the APC’s state and national leadership and organizational framework, stating that his choice was driven by his wish to support a party that could keep its promises to Nigerians.
Dangwani’s move comes amid rising political realignments in Kano, a major battlefield state in Nigerian politics. Given his prior connections to Kwankwaso, the leader of the New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP), his defection is viewed as a significant win for the APC.
Abdullahi Abbas greeted the new members and promised them equal opportunities within the party, saying the defection was a boost to the party’s grassroots mobilization efforts.
