Under the direction of Muhammad Usaini Gumel, the commissioner of Kano Police, joint security agencies have said that they will abide by the Federal High Court’s injunction prohibiting the Kano State government from installing Emir Muhammadu Sanusi II.

Along with other senior military security officers, the DSS, and other officials, Police Commissioner Muhammad Usaini Gumel issued a warning, saying that they would not tolerate anyone utilising the events taking place in the Emirate Council to undermine the peace and unity of the State.

He declared, “our joint security resolved to keep peace in Kano, and the development surrounding the Emirates Council; the Police Command respects the court order, alongside other security agencies and we have resolved to ensure that we keep peace in the state.”

He said that since the police command first learned of the order to arrest the deposed Emir Bayero via social media, it had not been forwarded to them.

He went on to say that no one would force them to do any assignments.

“As far as the situation of the Emirate is concerned, we recognize the Emir who was there as stated by the Court, and we are only respecting Court orders which says status quo should be maintained and that is where we stay and stand,” he added.

“The position of law is very clear that whoever tries to cause problems will be arrested without hesitation.” the Police Commissioner continued.

“Miscreants are are advised to stay away from causing havoc in the State, as the safety of the people remain sacrosanct.”
