Sir Paul Chukwuma, a prominent candidate for governorship in the All Progressives Congress (APC), has resigned from the party.
Speaking to his supporters at his home in Umueri, Anambra East Local Government Area, Chukwuma explained that he had made the decision because he could no longer collaborate with some of the party’s state leadership’s less progressive members.
He said: “We were among those who founded the APC and have made every effort to nurture and sustain it. Ward chairmen are the true custodians of the party. I have formally submitted my resignation to the chairman of the party in my ward.
“My support and loyalty remain unwavering—100 percent—for the President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu. Our agenda has always been to connect Anambra to the centre.
“We need time to organise and ensure we can deliver beyond the usual five percent support we have historically given to the President. The fundamental issue has always been the quality of leadership in Anambra. The President is committed to fixing Nigeria, and we shall stand by him. However, we will not align ourselves with unprogressive elements in Anambra State.”
