Any Native Doctor Who Can Disappear from Police Cell Will Be Freed of All Charges – Gov. Soludo

Since then, the governor’s comments have generated a lot of debate, with some people wondering if he meant for them to be taken seriously or as a playful challenge.

In a startling declaration, Anambra State Governor Charles Soludo said that any native doctor who is able to disappear from a police jail will be exonerated of all accusations against them.

Soludo, who is renowned for his occasionally unorthodox style of governing, said this during a recent gathering where he spoke about the state’s problems with crime and law enforcement.

The Governor said his comment were intended to draw attention to the challenges that law enforcement faces when dealing with some offenders, such as those who practice traditional medicine and the occult.

While speaking to the press, Soludo remarked that some individuals accused of various crimes use their mystical or spiritual skills to dodge arrest and escape from detention. He underlined that such people should not be kept under detention and that all charges should be dropped if they are capable of escaping a police cell.

Since then, the governor’s remarks have generated a lot of debate, with some people wondering if he meant for them to be taken seriously or as a playful challenge.

The declaration also emphasizes Nigeria’s increasing conflict between traditional customs and contemporary law enforcement.

Particularly in areas where indigenous customs are deeply embedded in the culture, Native physicians and traditional healers are frequently at the core of contentious court issues.

In many Nigerian states, the relationship between criminal justice and spiritual beliefs remains a touchy one.

The administration of Governor Soludo has placed a high priority on bolstering the legal system and security, but his most recent remarks about his approach to law and order may cause more questions than they will answers.

Even though his comment was lighthearted, it captures the difficult task the Nigerian government has in striking a balance between traditional values and contemporary legal standards.

Although the police have not yet responded to the statement, it is anticipated to spark additional discussion on the function of traditional medicine and occult practices in contemporary Nigerian society.
