George Moghalu, who was the Labour Party’s gubernatorial candidate in Anambra State, has stepped down as a party member.

This was revealed by Moghalu in a letter he shared on Tuesday via his verified X account.

HINGTIE has seen the letter, which was dated January 26, 2026 and directed to the Chairman of Ward 1 of the Labour Party in Uruagu, Nnewi.

Moghalu stated in the letter that his decision was effective immediately.

“I bring you the good wishes of my family and to formally inform you of my resignation from the Labour Party, effective today, the 26th of January, 2026,” the letter read.

He thanked the party and its members for providing him with the opportunity to run for governor in the 2025 Anambra State gubernatorial election.
