George Moghalu, a founding national auditor of the All Progressives Congress (APC), has selected the Labour Party’s (LP) nominee for governor of Anambra and its declaration of interest forms.

Julius Abure, the party’s national chairman, gave the documents to Moghalu at the LP Secretariat in Abuja.

Speaking after choosing the forms, Moghalu expressed hope of becoming the future governor of the state.

He said, “I have confidence that the party leadership will provide us platform for a contestation.

“Our ambition is not a war, the truth is that at the end of the day one person will fly the flag of the Labour Party in Anambra State, and I believe with confidence in God that I will be that person.

“Mr. Chairman, one assurance I will give you today is that I will not betray confidence, I will not let you down. I will go with Labour and I will win with Labour Party by God’s grace.”

According to Moghalu, he is vying to become governor in November 2025, challenging Governor Chukwuma Soludo.

The immediate past managing director of the National Inland Waterways Authority, or NIWA, gave an explanation for his choice to join the LP, stating that he did so following discussions with his stakeholders and constituents.

“A lot of people who know me, they were actually surprised that I was able to change my political platform because I have always remained in one political platform since inception of this political dispensation, but I had to leave to join the Labour Party,” Moghalu said.

While promising Moghalu a level playing field during the party’s governorship primaries in Awka, Anambra State, Abure expressed gratitude for Moghalu’s faith in LP.
