According to Anambra State police, the state’s churches and institutions now have more robust security measures.
This comes after attacks on schools and churches in the state’s northern regions, which resulted in the deaths of worshippers and the kidnapping of kids.
In a news statement, SP Tochukwu Ikenga, a spokesperson for the Anambra State Police Command, stated that CP Ikioye Orutugu, the state’s commissioner of police, had announced increased security measures for churches and schools.
According to him, this is a proactive approach to deter attacks and provide a safe space for prayer and education.
Ikenga said: “The Commissioner has directed Area Commanders, Divisional Police Officers, and Tactical Commanders to intensify their ongoing security patrols, reinforce intelligence-driven operations, and strengthen collaboration with community stakeholders for seamless and effective security coordination.
“The Commissioner reiterated the Command’s unwavering dedication to protecting lives and property, assuring residents that the Police will continue to adapt and enhance security strategies to meet evolving challenges while sustaining the State’s growing atmosphere of peace.
“The CP commended the growing unity of safety consciousness among residents, noting that Ndi Anambra have continued to demonstrate commendable cooperation, vigilance, and the spirit of being their brothers’ keepers.
“He emphasized that this collective commitment has significantly supported the Command’s efforts in maintaining peace and security across the State,” he said.
