There have been reports of a jet attempting to land at the same airport where an Army Black Hawk helicopter and American Eagle Flight 5342 collided.
A helicopter got into the jet’s flight path, forcing it to turn around and approach again, according to Fox News.
According to the story, The Washington Post discovered that an audio recording from air traffic control captured the incident, noting that Republic Airways Flight 4514 landed successfully, as shown by flight monitoring software.
“The Embraer E-175 was cleared to land at the airport’s Runway 19 and advised about a helicopter in its vicinity.
“It executed a go-around maneuver after its automated collision avoidance system ordered what’s known as a ‘resolution advisory’ to avoid nearby traffic.
“That put the aircraft out of proper alignment for landing but it was able to land safely several minutes later,” the report said.
Following report on Thursday a U.S. military helicopter collided midair with an American Airlines jet carrying 64 people.
More than 64 people are feared dead, as responders have switched to a recovery effort.
