APC chieftain reveals why prices of food items still up

A prominent member of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Joe Igbokwe, has held Nigerian traders responsible for the persistent surge in food prices.

Writing on his Facebook page on Saturday, Igbokwe an ardent supporter of President Bola Tinubu’s administration alleged that excessive greed among traders is preventing any reduction in prices.

He stated that while available data shows food costs are gradually declining, this trend is not being mirrored in the markets, which he attributed to traders’ deliberate actions.

Igbokwe expressed his frustration, stating that Nigerians often act as their own greatest adversaries.

He wrote, “Prices of food and commodities are coming down but Nigerians will not help Nigerians.

“Our greed, our wickedness and avaricious tendencies have no part two. We are our worst enemies. Nigerians steal what they do not need”.
