Victor Osimhen has expressed his joy after captaining the Super Eagles in their 2025 Africa Cup of Nations Group C match against Uganda’s Cranes.

The Galatasaray striker, who was officially named the Super Eagles vice-captain just days before the tournament, led the team to a 3-1 victory after head coach Éric Chelle decided to rest captain Wilfred Ndidi.

This marked the first time the 27-year-old wore the captain’s armband for the national team.

Osimhen described the experience as a dream come true.

“It’s a dream come true for me because I grew up watching the Super Eagles,” the forward said after the game.
