APC convention: Morka sends important information to all party members

Felix Morka, the National Publicity Secretary of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), has advised aspirants vying for specific positions at the upcoming national convention to review the guidelines before making any payment for forms.

This statement from Morka came on Wednesday as he answered questions in an interview on Arise Television that ZINGTIE was following.

He observed that the APC released information and guidelines containing an account number, adding that anyone who made a payment did so by choice.

He stated that paying for the form of the office they are seeking to contest was insufficient.

Certain aspirants for the APC expressed dissatisfaction regarding their inability to obtain the forms despite having paid and fulfilled all required conditions.

Reacting, Morka said, “Party members should read the guidelines before making payments. Every individual who paid money chose to do so and when they paid that money, they are presumed to already be fully aware and conscious of all the rules that apply.

“We are the largest party in this country and maybe on the continent. So when you gather so many people together to pass through a narrow process of selection of those who govern the party, you are almost necessarily bound to have disagreements.

“Our Congress is governed by rules, by guidelines, by the party’s constitution. So it means that when we put out a call for expression of interest for people to compete for available positions, they are required to follow laid down procedures of the party.

“Because what I hear is that people said they paid money. Yes, that’s true. That was prescribed for setting the office that perhaps they are seeking to contest but paying money is not enough. There’s also the zoning formula,” the party spokesman said.
