According to the Kano State branch of the All Progressives Congress, or APC, Kwankwaso’s wish to rejoin the APC was the driving force behind Abdulmumin Jibrin Kofa’s attempts to mediate a reunion between Kwankwaso and Ganduje. They contend that Kofa’s proposal for reconciliation between Kwankwaso and Ganduje is a political ruse because they don’t see the necessity to politically align with Kwankwaso.

In an interview with Hikima Radio in Kano, Ahmad S. Aruwa, the APC spokesperson for Kano State, made this claim.

The APC spokesperson claims that Kwankwaso’s goal in trying to rejoin the party is to take back control of it from its current members.

He emphasised how Kwankwaso had betrayed their trust while they were in the PDP and had previously weakened Malam Ibrahim Shekarau by pressuring them to switch from the APC to the PDP.

“Looking at how Kofa outlined the achievements and positions held by Kwankwaso and Ganduje, it becomes clear that he is too insignificant to mediate peace between the two.”

Aruwa further underlined that Kano State Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf, not Kofa, should act as a mediator between Kwankwaso and Ganduje.
