Ajibola Basiru, the National Secretary of the All Progressives Congress (APC), has stated that the ruling party is pleased with the crisis in the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

Bashiru claimed that the PDP’s problem was caused by the personal ambitions of some individuals, not the APC.

His statement contradicts assertions by PDP former presidential candidate Atiku Abubakar that the APC bribed opposition politicians with N50 million each.

Atiku said that the APC-led government was paying the money to destabilise the opposition.

In response to the charge, the APC scribe said that the ruling party is not afraid of the opposition.

On Sunday, he addressed at the inauguration of unit, ward, and local government canvassers for the APC’s Alubarika movement in Osun state.

“Ambition of a few individuals is what is causing the rift within the opposition party and it is to the joy of us as a ruling party if they don’t get their house together. It is not our job to help them put their house in order,” he said.

Meanwhile, ZINGTIE claims that the situation within the PDP took a new turn last week when two party leaders clashed over the role of National Secretary.

Samuel Anyanwu and Sunday Ude-Okoye caused quite a disturbance during the PDP’s Board of Trustees, or BoT, meeting at the party’s Secretariat in Abuja.

According to ZINGTIE, the Court of Appeal in Enugu has proclaimed Ude-Okoye the substantive National Secretary.

The decision came after Anyanwu resigned to run for governor of Imo State.

However, notwithstanding the verdict, Anyanwu stated that Ude-Okoye lacks the authority to accept the job.

Anyanwu used his Supreme Court appeal to defend the status quo.
