The Edo State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has confirmed the six-month suspension of member Stella Ogbetta over a social media post considered damaging to the party’s reputation.

This decision was approved by the party’s State Working Committee (SWC) during its Friday meeting, following an earlier suspension by the leadership of the Oredo Local Government Area chapter.

In a statement signed by State Publicity Secretary Peter Uwadiae-Igbinigie, the SWC explained that the suspension aims to reinforce discipline and maintain proper conduct within the party.

The communiqué highlighted concerns about recent misconduct involving party members in Oredo and Ovia South-West Local Government Areas, specifically referencing a social media post attributed to Mrs. Ogbetta that was deemed harmful to the party’s image.

“The SWC, having received the formal communication from the LGA, ratified the suspension and further resolved that at the expiration of the six-month period, Ogbetta must tender a formal letter of apology to the SWC. Failure to do so will result in her expulsion from the party,” it noted.

It was further decided that the apology letter must be submitted once the suspension period ends, with the warning that non-compliance would result in expulsion.

As of the time of this report, the exact content of the social media post leading to Ogbetta’s suspension has not been independently confirmed.
