In Oyo State, several officials of the All Progressives Congress (APC) have stated that the party is making every effort to unseat the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), which now holds the state’s leadership, in 2027.

The APC leaders made this statement on Saturday while speaking to reporters at the book launch of “A Life Of Principle: The Olayide Moshood Abas Story,” written by Akeem Abas, a reporter for the New Agency of Nigeria (NAN), in memory of his father, pharmacist Olayide Abas, who also serves as the state’s APC chairman.

Prominent state party leaders, including Senator Sharafadeen Abiodun Alli (Oyo South), the member of the House of Representatives representing Ido/Ibarapa East, Aderemi Oseni, APC senatorial aspirant in Oyo Central, Mr Wasiu Ademola Alli and APC gubernatorial aspirant, Barrister Akeem Agbaje, attended the book launch honoring the APC chairman’s 76th birthday.

Others include Senator Kola Balogun, Ogun State Chairman of the Nigeria Union of Journalists, Mr. Ademola Babalola, Mr. Wasiu Olawale Sadare, Idris Lapade, Architect Hassan Giwa, Yemi Aderibigbe, Ayodeji Abass-Aleshinloye, APC Publicly Secretary, and others.

According to the ZINGTIE, Governor Seyi Makinde of the PDP defeated the APC in the state’s general elections in 2019 and 2023.

Speaking at the ceremony, the APC chieftains stated that the party has decided to seize control of the state in 2027.

According to Alli, there are no issues within the political party.

He said, “There is no problem in Oyo State APC. By the special grace of God, APC is coming to take over Oyo State in 2027. The President has said it yesterday.”

Agbaje in his contribution said, “Well my own view is that APC has always been the strongest party in Oyo State. And once we are united we will always defeat the PDP.”
