After two brothers were viciously attacked in the early hours of Thursday, July 10, leaving one of them with a severed hand, tensions were high in Sheshi Dama, a hamlet in Niger State’s Bida Local Government Area.
The victims, Baba and Wada Gozan from Fulani Camp in Etsugaie Village, were reportedly ambushed while visiting a female acquaintance in the region, according to Zagazola Makama.
The attacker, Mohammed Umar, and four other young men from another Fulani camp in Kafa Villag, according to their father, began the attack with sticks and machetes.
The attackers have been identified as Ado Yambe, Kura Maigari, Rani Maigari, and Goga Maigari.
Baba’s right hand was totally severed during the assault, while Wada, his brother, suffered severe injuries to both his right hand and head.
The brothers are currently undergoing care at the General Hospital in Agaie after local residents swiftly stepped in and hurried them there.
According to reports, the suspects left the area right away after the assault and are still at large.
Police officials affirmed that they are conducting an investigation and working to find the criminals.
In order to avoid reprisals and a further breakdown of the peace, community leaders have urged security agencies to guarantee that justice is served while also calling for calm.
