After his former aide Daniel Bwala said that God had not predestined him to be president of Nigeria, former vice president of Nigeria and Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) presidential candidate Atiku Abubakar responded.
The message was made by Atiku Abubakar and was posted on PUNCH’s official X handle on Tuesday.
His remarks follow the Senior Special Assistant on Policy Communication to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s declaration that he would advise him to believe in fate and not run for office again if they met today.
As Daniel Bwala stated: “Your Excellency, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, you have to believe in destiny. God gives power to whomsoever he chooses”.
But in the report that went viral, Paul Ibe, Atiku Abubakar’s Special Adviser on Media, called Daniel Bwala a political opportunist. According to him, the former vice president is not looking to those like him for approval.
He was cited as stating: “Atiku Abubakar neither seeks nor requires validation from political opportunists who shed principles as easily as they change parties. Mr. Bwala’s current relevance, if any, is owed entirely to the platform he once occupied under Atiku’s leadership”.
