Segun Adewale, a PDP chieftain, claims that former Vice President Atiku Abubakar is the solution Nigeria needs to revive its economy.

Former Lagos State party chairman Adewale told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Lagos on Friday that no one should tell Abubakar to quit the PDP or write him off politically.

Recall that the former vice president was encouraged not to run on the PDP ticket in 2027 by some opponents of Abubakar’s presidential aspirations, like as former PDP Deputy National Chairman, Chief Olabode George and former Ekiti State Governor Ayo Fayose.

Fayose stated he would work against his presidential dream if he decided to run in 2027, while George on Wednesday ordered Abubakar to quit the PDP immediately due to suspected anti-party activities.

Speaking, Adewale, also known as Aeroland, stated that nobody should play god over the former vice president’s aspirations.

“He (Abubakar) has been tested and tried as part of the few politicians with contentment, and he has never given up.

“He has been in power, he understands Nigerian politics. He knows our challenges compared to other politicians that just want to grab power to get wealth.

“Atiku is one of the politicians that I know that is satisfied with whatever he has. Most other politicians, like his critics, are gluttons.

“It is unfortunate that the unrelenting opposition that Atiku has is still in the PDP, his party, not even outside PDP,” Adewale said.

He said it is unfortunate that PDP members continue to be the ones who are most strongly opposed to Abubakar’s proposed coalition to overthrow the current All Progressives Congress, or APC, and put the PDP back in office.

“Anyone within the PDP saying Atiku should not contest in 2027 is working for the opposition and not for the party or the country.

“They are working for personal pockets, therefore, should not be listening to. We must discard their opinions.

“All dissenting voices in our party are working for their stomach, not for Nigeria,” Adewale said.

He insisted that no opposition party, not even Mr. Peter Obi of the Labour Party, could beat the ruling party on its own.

Adewale called for a reform of Nigeria’s election system to strengthen democracy, claiming that a defective system had denied him multiple electoral victories in Lagos State.

“It is not about how smart we are, but about the system. It is not about how popular you are, it is about the system. We must join hands to correct this before 2027 polls.

He asserts that Nigerians are demanding a change and a breath of fresh air because they are fed up with bad government.
