Paul Ibe, spokesperson for former presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Atiku Abubakar, has taken a jab at President Bola Tinubu after his recent return from France.
In a post shared on X, Ibe mocked Tinubu’s usual self-reference, saying the President should no longer be called “Emi Lokan” but rather “AWOL lo Kan”.
Posting on X, Ibe wrote: “I have just been reminded by a friend that Tinubu actually arrived in Nigeria 2 days ago on a working visit.
“I, formerly known and addressed as Emilokan, now wish to be known and addressed as A.W.O.L lo kan #AWOLOKAN.”
Tinubu came back to the country on Monday, following a trip to France. His plane landed at the presidential section of Abuja’s Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport around 9:00 pm, where he was greeted by senior government officials.
Before his return, the Presidency had stated that the President would be back after the Easter celebrations.
His prolonged absence had stirred criticism from some Nigerians, especially with rising insecurity in states like Plateau, Borno, and Benue, where deadly attacks were reported during his time away.
Presidential aide Bayo Onanuga, however, assured the public that Tinubu remained fully aware of the situation back home.
