Ahead of the 2027 presidential election, the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, has begun to be ravaged by a political tsunami.
This came after Ifeanyi Okowa, the party’s previous running partner for vice president, defected to the All Progressives Congress, APC.
Remember how former Delta State Governor Okowa switched to the All Progressives Congress, APC, on Wednesday?
Soon after a meeting at Delta State Government House in Asaba, Okowa’s decision to defect to the APC was made public.
He emphasized that he was headed in the right direction and clarified that his choice was not a mistake.
“Be assured that we will not go in the wrong direction. We will take the best direction, the best path for our people,” Okowa said.
In a same vein, Delta State Governor Sheriff Oborevwori decamped from the PDP to the ruling APC.
One of the outcomes of the meeting with state PDP leaders and stakeholders was Oborevwori’s defection.
Senator James Manager clarified in his remarks that the exodus was complete: “All PDP members in the state, including the governor, former Governor Okowa, the Speaker, the state party chairman, all local government chairmen, and others, have agreed to move to the APC. We cannot continue to be in a sinking boat.”
“From choir critics to lead singers overnight— what a miraculous political conversion,” Prank Shaibu, Atiku’s Special Assistant on Public Communication, said in a post on X.
