Four people were killed in a terrible collision between a Mack truck and a tricycle on Friday, leaving only a baby alive. The incident caused tears to flow freely at Sign Board Junction in Umuahia.

The trike reportedly crashed into the vehicle at the busy intersection after leaving Umuahia main town and traveling to the Ohuhu neighborhood of the Abia capital.

Four tricycle passengers perished instantly, according to witnesses at the site, however one victim’s infant miraculously survived the collision.

The precise cause of the accident was still unknown as of the time of publication. However, other locals accused both drivers of driving recklessly.

Two people have been confirmed killed, according to Mrs. Ngozi Ezeoma, the Sector Commander of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) in Abia State, who was called at 6:12 p.m. Rescue efforts were still underway at the scene, she continued, and she vowed to provide all the details when they were ready.

A pregnant woman suffered severe injuries in a collision along the Uzuakoli–Ohafia Road earlier in the day in a different but connected event. A Toyota Hiace bus and another tricycle were involved in the collision.

The bus was reportedly driving in a lot of rain without working wipers, which caused it to collide with the trike.

For immediate medical care, the wounded woman and the other victims were taken to a hospital in Umuahia.
