Bain, a member of the K-pop group Just B, has openly revealed that he is gay, making the announcement during a concert in Los Angeles.
The 23-year-old shared the personal revelation while performing a solo segment on stage an uncommon move in the tightly controlled K-pop industry, where artists typically keep their personal lives private.
Bain, while performing a solo, said: “I’m proud to be a part of the LGBTQ+ community as a gay person.”
“To anyone out there who’s part of the LGBTQ+ community, or still figuring it out this is for you. You are seen, you are loved, and you were born this way,” he added.
As reported by Korean news outlet News1, Bain is now recognized as the first male K-pop idol to come out publicly.
After the show, fellow bandmate Siwoo expressed his support in a message shared on a fan platform, saying, “I was watching from backstage and I cried too. I cried even more because I knew how hard it was for him.”
